Modern treatment methods are straightforward and can be completed on an outpatient basis, in a day surgery setting, or within a few days at most.
The most common vein problems, varicose veins and spider veins, should ideally be treated as soon as they are detected so as not to further complicate the treatment by delaying it.
Today, the treatment is painless, less invasive and usually leads to the resumption of daily activities after a few hours to days. Sport can usually be resumed after 1 week at the latest.
Mandatory wearing of medical compression stockings (compression class II) is usually only necessary for a few hours to days.
Simple is brilliant
- These are the painful memories of our parents, grandparents and great-grandparents.
One-day surgery, perhaps only sclerotherapy in the doctor's surgery, compression for a few hours, followed immediately by exercise, showering, no interruption to work and, above all, only a hint of pain
- These are the hopeful words of today's modern vein specialist.
The breakthrough was the minimally invasive surgical technique and early treatment.
State-of-the-art treatment technology - today everything is very simple.
Varicose vein operations
Most varicose vein surgeries can be performed on an outpatient basis, or with a maximum stay of 1 to 2 days in a private clinic, under general anesthesia, regional anesthesia, or even local anesthesia.
The achievement of recent years lies in the surgeon's precise and minimally invasive technique. With skill and intuition, the surgeon delicately treats only the necessary vessels. The art of the operation is to achieve maximum effect with minimal intervention.
Many techniques can achieve the desired result, but only one is the best. Each person is different, so only one technique is right for you. The art of treatment lies in selecting the right tool for the job.
Today, operations only take about 1 hour for both legs! Many patients walk out of the operating room accompanied by a family member to the car just 2, 3, or 4 hours after varicose vein surgery. The next day, they can shower, take care of themselves, and go for walks. The following day, they start with light exercise such as cycling or using a stationary bike, do desk work, or even resume their professional activities.
Compression stockings are only required for the first few hours or days after varicose vein surgery. They help to stop bleeding and prevent thrombosis. Modern compression stockings are skin-friendly, comfortable to wear, breathable, and attractive.
We conduct our operations in cooperation with the Mavie Med Private Clinic Wörgl.
Sclerotherapy of varicose veins
Sclerotherapy involves contracting and sealing off small to very small varicose veins. It is often used to treat residual varicose veins after initial treatments like surgery. It's also effective for isolated cases where only small varicose veins appear in the skin and subcutaneous tissue, making sclerotherapy the preferred method.
Sclerotherapy can effectively target any remaining varicose veins and minor spider veins because the injected solution spreads throughout all the enlarged, unsightly veins.
Using our self-developed technique, we usually treat an entire leg, or even both legs, in one session and repeat the treatment every six months. On average, a visible cosmetic improvement is achieved after 2 years, and often even flawless legs.
Sclerotherapy, when performed correctly with the appropriate techniques and instruments, causes minimal discomfort and is tolerable without local anesthesia. It is equally suitable for young and old, men and women.
Only a flawless result guarantees that varicose veins and spider veins will not reappear. The treatment schedule usually slows down to longer and longer intervals. Leg care, increased awareness of vein health, and exercise all contribute to optimizing the result.
Sclerotherapy is part of a vein prophylaxis program by Venesthetic® and therefore part of a health program. It is fundamentally part of a consistent aftercare program following varicose vein surgeries.
In foam sclerotherapy, the liquid is mixed with air in a specific ratio to create a foam. This strengthens the contraction of the veins and subsequent adhesion, but also increases the risk of complications.
Sclerotherapy methods are customized for each patient to reduce the risk of complications to almost zero. Performing sclerotherapy requires years of experience to achieve excellent results.
Aftercare
The secret of success: no varicose vein or spider vein treatment without follow-up treatment.
For decades, people claimed that treating varicose veins and spider veins was frustrating and unsuccessful. In fact, treatment was only given to remove the worst, but what happened to what was left? They continued to grow!
Varicose veins and spider veins, once they have developed, are subject to a constant growth stimulus. There is only a chance of getting rid of them for good if you try to stop them completely. What would the dentists say if you only treated and cared for your teeth once? Legs also need to be cared for.
Follow-up treatment ensures that any remaining or new varicose veins are detected early and eliminated in their initial stages. Consistent post-operative follow-up care guarantees that you will never need surgery again – with the exception, of course, of new truncal varicose veins appearing elsewhere (on the other leg).
Any advanced varicose vein or spider vein condition requires patience and perseverance. However, the sooner you take action, the sooner you will see success.
Sclerotherapy treatments, as well as check-ups and follow-up treatments after surgery, initially take place every six months. Later, the intervals are extended to one or more years.
Forecast
As described under Basic Knowledge, varicose veins are a condition caused by the Earth's gravity. Varicose veins that have been successfully treated through surgery or sclerotherapy often do not return for the rest of the patient's life, provided they have been completely removed.
For some individuals (2-3% of those affected), the condition is very persistent and difficult to treat. However, for an equally large percentage, the result is flawless and permanent after just one treatment. The remaining approximately 95% of those affected fall somewhere in between these two extremes. Fortunately, due to our over 20 years of experience, a very high percentage of patients ultimately always achieve success, typically after 3 – 4 treatments (over 2 years, every 6 months)*.
To optimize results, our patients receive regular information and further education throughout the repeated treatments, enabling them to actively participate in their recovery process. In particular, the health programs, as described in the book “What Healthy Legs Need”, are repeatedly communicated in numerous personal discussions during follow-up treatments.
Patients who have completed the treatment program are usually so experienced that they have understood and mastered their condition and know how to influence it at any time.

Recipe for success: experience and practice
40 years of experience in the treatment of varicose veins and spider veins
There is no real secret to good success other than a lot of experience and practice in the craft. It's not particularly painful if the needle pricks a little, but it's the simple answer I gave myself as to how to get people of all backgrounds to the desired result with consistent measures and little effort.
I have made it my mission to create a pleasant atmosphere for my patients during the initial contact on the phone and at reception by being available all weekdays from 09:00 to 18:00, my motivated, independently operating partners at IntelliCall Solutions always take care of the best appointment for you and you never have to suffer from long waiting times with us. Organization is everything.
Of course, we also expect punctuality and reliability from our patients in order to ensure that the day at the practice runs smoothly. So why not arrive a few minutes early, get into the right mood and let us treat you to a cup of coffee or tea to make your treatment easier.
I also like to use the time during the therapy sessions, which often last an hour, to talk with my patients about interesting topics from health education (salutology, see the 5 pillars of health at www.enoh.at) or medicine. This makes the visit varied, entertaining, and pleasant.
I look forward to welcoming you to our practice and introducing you to what's new. I offer all new patients a 1-hour initial consultation at a fixed price, which includes an examination and answers to all questions.
